    Terms of Service

The terms and conditions governing your use of TatPrep

    2026/08/20

    Last updated: August 20, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of TatPrep (tatprep.com), operated as an independent, one-person business ("we", "us", "TatPrep"). By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these Terms.

This is written in plain language on purpose. It is not legal advice, and it doesn't cover every edge case — if you have a specific concern, email us at support@tatprep.com before you rely on anything here.

    What TatPrep is

TatPrep helps you go from an idea to something you can bring into a tattoo studio: an AI-generated design, a preview of that design on your body at real size, and a printable "Prep Pack" (a real-size stencil PDF plus a written brief for your tattoo artist).

We are a preparation tool, not a tattoo artist. Nothing we generate is a professional tattoo design ready to be applied as-is — every artist will redraw, adjust, or reinterpret it based on their own technique, your skin, and the placement. Treat everything TatPrep produces as a reference, not a final product.

    Accounts

You need an account (via Google or GitHub sign-in, or email/password) to generate designs, save your work, or export a Prep Pack. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up.

    Credits and payment

TatPrep runs on a credit system:

    • New accounts receive a one-time gift of free credits on sign-up.
    • Credits are consumed by generating designs, downloading HD images, converting stencils, and exporting Prep Packs — the exact cost of each action is shown in the app before you confirm it.
    • You can buy more credits as a one-time package, or subscribe to a monthly/yearly plan that includes a recurring credit allowance.
    • One-time credit purchases do not expire. Subscription credits follow the renewal cycle of your plan.
    • Payment is processed by our payment provider (Creem); we never see or store your full card number.

See our Refund Policy for cancellation and refund terms.

    AI-generated content and intellectual property

    • Designs you generate belong to you to use. Subject to the limits below, you may use, print, and bring to a tattoo studio any design you generate through TatPrep.
    • Commercial use: designs generated on a free account or a one-time credit package are for your personal, non-commercial use (for example, getting the tattoo yourself, or sharing a Prep Pack with your own tattoo artist for your own appointment). If you're on a paid Pro subscription, you also have permission to use designs commercially — for example, if you run a tattoo studio and want to use TatPrep with clients. (This commercial-use split is our current policy as of this writing; if you have a specific commercial use case in mind, email us first to confirm it's covered.)
    • We don't claim ownership of the designs you generate. We do keep a copy of your generated images and Prep Pack exports in our storage so you can access your account history — see our Privacy Policy for how that data is handled.
    • AI training data: the underlying image-generation models are operated by third-party AI providers, not by us. We don't control what data those providers' models were trained on, and we can't guarantee any specific design is free of visual similarity to existing tattoo art or other AI-generated art. If originality matters a lot to you, treat every generated design as a starting point for your artist to make their own, not a finished, one-of-a-kind piece.

    Acceptable use

You agree not to use TatPrep to:

    • Generate designs depicting real, identifiable people (including public figures or celebrities) without their consent, or content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark (e.g., a specific brand's logo).
    • Generate content that is sexually explicit, hateful, or intended to harass or defame someone.
    • Attempt to bypass our credit system, rate limits, or content filters.
    • Use the service in a way that violates any applicable law.

We use an automated content filter and a keyword blocklist to catch obvious violations before generation. It isn't perfect in either direction — it may occasionally block something legitimate or miss something it shouldn't. If you think a generation was wrongly blocked, email support@tatprep.com.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, without a refund of already-consumed credits.

    Uploaded photos

If you upload a photo of your own body to preview a design's placement, that photo is processed entirely in your browser — it is never uploaded to, or stored on, our servers. See our Privacy Policy for the technical detail on why this matters to us and how we built it.

If you upload a reference image for other purposes (for example, converting an existing tattoo photo into a stencil, or attaching a reference image to a Prep Pack brief), that file is uploaded to our cloud storage so we can process and serve it back to you.

    Service availability

TatPrep is provided "as is." We rely on third-party AI image-generation providers to produce designs — if those providers have an outage, change their pricing, or discontinue a model, generation may be temporarily unavailable or degraded. We'll do our best to keep the service running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability.

    Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, TatPrep and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including decisions you make about a tattoo based on a generated design or Prep Pack. The final tattoo is created by a professional tattoo artist, not by us, and the outcome depends on their skill, your skin, and factors outside our control.

    Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use TatPrep after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
